Thisdesignthinkingcourse is meant to stimulate children's imagination andcreativity, help them use their brains and hands to solve problems, and getinspired to create a better world.

Maciej -founder of SquiggleLabs - started making things at an early age. He has conducted over 150workshops in Shanghaifor kids and adults - helping them become more creative, better problemsolvers, collaborators, and communicators. He has worked with top internationalschools such as YCIS, SCIS, WellingtonCollege, as well as otherinstitutions such as naked Discovery,XinCheJian, XinFab, andothers.He uses his experience in engineering, business, design, andeducation to create engaging experiences where everyone is learning to makingto learn.

Why do children need this course?

Children's psychological development showsthatone year old children use their imagination and creativity up to 96%of the time, but as they grow older they get trained not to use this ability,by the time they are 10 year old they only use their imaginations andcreativity 4% of the time.

Curriculum:

1. Making Together: Tower Challenge-璇剧1-楂濉

Well learn about making things, andcollaborate together to create the highest tower possible with simplematerials. After short introduction to the tools and materials we'll be usingwe'll start building and using critical thinking to figure out what works andwhat doesn't. We'll also learn about the importance of iteration in learningand making.

2. Making Together:Dinosaur ParkChallenge-璇剧2-渚绾

Well explore the world of Dinosaurs andmake our own favorite dinosaur out of simple materials. Conducing simpleresearch we'll learn more about different dinosaurs and we'll think about thethings dinosaurs would need to survive in our park.

3. Designing Together - AutomatonChallenge-璇剧3-ㄦ哄ㄤ汉

Well learn about simple machines andcreate our own automatons that we can interact with. We'll explore how simplemachines we invented to help people be more productive and how technology ischanging how we live and do things. We'll come up with ideas on how robots willhelp us in the future.

4. Designing Together - Shelter Challenge-璇剧4-哄ㄤ汉搴ゆ

In this workshop we'll use our empathy tothink about things we need to live, and design and make a shelter for our ownsimple robot creature. We'll brainstorm what features our shelters should have,create simple sketches to guide our thinking, and test how well everythingworks.
